JP ATLANTA SELECTS Ritz-Carlton veteran Julio Delgado
as executive chef

ATLANTA (Oct. 26, 2015) - Executive chef Julio Delgado will create the culinary aesthetic for JP Atlanta - Downtown Atlanta’s new fine dining destination opening in December - in continuation of his transformative work in the kitchens of some of the South’s most celebrated restaurants.  The newly appointed Delgado, a Ritz-Carlton veteran most recently engaged as executive chef of Château Élan Winery & Resort, will set the cuisine standard in a restaurant which combines contemporary elegance and a sophisticated menu in the newly reimaged mixed-use building at 230 Peachtree, which includes office space and a 206-room Hotel Indigo® hotel.

JP Atlanta, the newest creation of architect-developer John C. Portman, Jr., embraces the style and sophistication of The Midnight Sun, the legendary restaurant he opened in Peachtree Center almost 50 years ago.  The Midnight Sun brought together the finest in cuisine, culture and cosmopolitan flair in a restaurant experience that redefined mid-century Atlanta’s standard for fine dining.  JP Atlanta, under Delgado's culinary prowess, will bring a modern, global interpretation of that same experience back to Downtown Atlanta.

A native of Puerto Rico, Delgado's distinguished career has been spent learning and executing the exacting standards of several prestigious kitchens. He has served as executive chef of The Ritz-Carlton, Atlanta; as executive sous chef at The Ritz-Carlton, Buckhead and as fine dining chef at The Ritz-Carlton Lodge, Reynolds Plantation, followed by his Château Élan tenure.

“Julio has honed his talents in some of this city's finest kitchens," says Hospitality Ventures Management Group’s Richard Jones, whose company operates JP Atlanta and the Hotel Indigo ® hotel at 230 Peachtree. “He knows what it takes to deliver an excellent culinary experience, and he will make a mark on fine dining Downtown.”

The winner of four American Culinary Foundation gold medals, Delgado is thrilled with this new opportunity. “It’s an honor for me to interpret Mr. Portman's vision into a menu and dining experience that will pay homage to our city's history while redefining its future,” he says. “I feel like my entire culinary career has been building to this.”

230 Peachtree, which will have direct access to the Peachtree Center MARTA station and Downtown’s streetcar, plus thousands of vendors and shoppers at the connecting AmericasMart complex and tourist attractions including the Georgia Aquarium, the Center for Civil and Human Rights, the College Football Hall of Fame and more than 100,000 weekday office workers, will become a highlight of the modern Downtown Atlanta. With JP Atlanta, Downtown will now have an inviting option for a business breakfast, a quick lunch, a world-class dinner or a late-night cocktail.

About 230 Peachtree
230 Peachtree is an adaptive reuse development in the heart of Downtown Atlanta—adjacent to the Peachtree Center MARTA station and within walking distance of the new Atlanta Streetcar. The building was originally designed and developed by world-renowned architect John Portman in 1965, and was recently reacquired by Portman Holdings after spending decades under other ownership. Currently under renovation, the finished building will contain approximately 290,000 square feet of office space atop a 206-room Hotel Indigo® hotel. The John Portman & Associates-designed property will also house JP Atlanta, a luxury-dining establishment featuring new American cuisine and an exciting cocktail program.
