HARVEST FOR A CURE EVENT RAISES $325,000 AND HOPE
FOR A WORLD FREE OF MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS
Gourmet Food, Wine and Art Gala on Oct. 22
Benefited the Georgia Chapter of National Multiple Sclerosis Society

ATLANTA (Oct. 29, 2015) – On Oct. 22, the second annual Harvest for a Cure event was held at the Westside Cultural Arts Center to benefit the Georgia Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Society, an organization that supports research to help treat and end MS globally. It was an extravaganza of gourmet food, vintage wines and acclaimed art that raised $325,000.

Many of Atlanta’s most talented chefs and sommeliers —including Gerry Klaskala and Andres Loaiza from Aria—worked together to pair culinary creations with wines from the personal cellars of top local wine collectors.  Guests sampled delicious food and drinks while surrounded by stunning art, including works from renowned local artist Ross Rossin, whose large scale, oil-on-canvas painting of Audrey Hepburn raised $10,000 in the silent auction.

Photos of Klaskala and Rossin, as well as Roy A. Rangel, president of the Georgia Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, and Denise Dauphin, event chair, can be found here.

All funds raised during Harvest for a Cure will help improve the lives of people living with MS by sponsoring local programs and services and accelerating worldwide research projects to help put an end to the debilitating disease.

JP ATLANTA SELECTS Ritz-Carlton veteran Julio Delgado
as executive chef

ATLANTA (Oct. 26, 2015) - Executive chef Julio Delgado will create the culinary aesthetic for JP Atlanta - Downtown Atlanta’s new fine dining destination opening in December - in continuation of his transformative work in the kitchens of some of the South’s most celebrated restaurants.  The newly appointed Delgado, a Ritz-Carlton veteran most recently engaged as executive chef of Château Élan Winery & Resort, will set the cuisine standard in a restaurant which combines contemporary elegance and a sophisticated menu in the newly reimaged mixed-use building at 230 Peachtree, which includes office space and a 206-room Hotel Indigo® hotel.

JP Atlanta, the newest creation of architect-developer John C. Portman, Jr., embraces the style and sophistication of The Midnight Sun, the legendary restaurant he opened in Peachtree Center almost 50 years ago.  The Midnight Sun brought together the finest in cuisine, culture and cosmopolitan flair in a restaurant experience that redefined mid-century Atlanta’s standard for fine dining.  JP Atlanta, under Delgado's culinary prowess, will bring a modern, global interpretation of that same experience back to Downtown Atlanta.

A native of Puerto Rico, Delgado's distinguished career has been spent learning and executing the exacting standards of several prestigious kitchens. He has served as executive chef of The Ritz-Carlton, Atlanta; as executive sous chef at The Ritz-Carlton, Buckhead and as fine dining chef at The Ritz-Carlton Lodge, Reynolds Plantation, followed by his Château Élan tenure.

“Julio has honed his talents in some of this city's finest kitchens," says Hospitality Ventures Management Group’s Richard Jones, whose company operates JP Atlanta and the Hotel Indigo ® hotel at 230 Peachtree. “He knows what it takes to deliver an excellent culinary experience, and he will make a mark on fine dining Downtown.”

The winner of four American Culinary Foundation gold medals, Delgado is thrilled with this new opportunity. “It’s an honor for me to interpret Mr. Portman's vision into a menu and dining experience that will pay homage to our city's history while redefining its future,” he says. “I feel like my entire culinary career has been building to this.”

230 Peachtree, which will have direct access to the Peachtree Center MARTA station and Downtown’s streetcar, plus thousands of vendors and shoppers at the connecting AmericasMart complex and tourist attractions including the Georgia Aquarium, the Center for Civil and Human Rights, the College Football Hall of Fame and more than 100,000 weekday office workers, will become a highlight of the modern Downtown Atlanta. With JP Atlanta, Downtown will now have an inviting option for a business breakfast, a quick lunch, a world-class dinner or a late-night cocktail.

About 230 Peachtree
230 Peachtree is an adaptive reuse development in the heart of Downtown Atlanta—adjacent to the Peachtree Center MARTA station and within walking distance of the new Atlanta Streetcar. The building was originally designed and developed by world-renowned architect John Portman in 1965, and was recently reacquired by Portman Holdings after spending decades under other ownership. Currently under renovation, the finished building will contain approximately 290,000 square feet of office space atop a 206-room Hotel Indigo® hotel. The John Portman & Associates-designed property will also house JP Atlanta, a luxury-dining establishment featuring new American cuisine and an exciting cocktail program. FIGO Pasta's West Midtown Location is Latest Step in Company’s Growth

FIGO PASTA'S WEST MIDTOWN LOCATION IS LATEST STEP
IN COMPANY’S GROWTH
Local Restaurant Chain Continues Responsible Expansion

ATLANTA (Oct. 22, 2015) – Celebrating its one-year anniversary this month, FIGO in West Midtown is the sixth location of Atlanta’s popular pasta chain. It is situated on one of the city’s original seven streets and signals founder Sandro Romagnoli’s commitment to expanding his local Italian restaurants into new neighborhoods like the Marietta Street Artery. An area where formerly industrial properties now house creative spaces, urban lofts, performance venues and acclaimed dining and retail options, West Midtown represents a renaissance of historical Atlanta neighborhoods.

Much like the Marietta Street corridor, Romagnoli’s career also experienced a re-awakening to allow for the creation of FIGO, which in the Italian language translates to something that is outstanding or much loved. Although the company is now Romagnoli’s not-so-little slice of heaven, it took him leaving a very successful career in the woodworking machinery field to uncover his true passion.

“In 2001, I was working for an Italian company and making a very good living, but I realized that something was missing in my life,” Romagnoli recalls. “After a lot of reflection, I came to the conclusion that I wasn’t really in love with what I was doing.”

During this time of reflection, Romagnoli retraced his steps, trying to determine when he had been the happiest. They led him back to his work at The George Hotel of Stamford in England where he had been a busser and server for a brief time while trying to learn English. A native of Certaldo, Italy, Romagnoli grew up in a small town outside of Florence but decided he was ready for a bigger city and traveled to England after earning his accounting degree. Although he eventually moved back to Italy and then to Atlanta to follow other career paths, Romagnoli’s time in England would have a profound impact on his future.

“I realized that when I was serving in that restaurant, I was able to establish a connection with others that was so intense it would fill my heart with happiness,” says Romagnoli. “Then it became very clear to me that whatever I was going to do, I was going to be in the business of making people happy.”

He wrote this revelation on a piece of paper that he still holds today, because out of this shocking revelation, FIGO was born just a year later. It is what Romagnoli refers to as his “unwavering and sometimes irrational passion” that fueled the opening of the original location of his successful restaurant chain. Now, with restaurants in Buckhead, Sandy Springs, Vinings, Edgewood/L5P and Decatur, as well as the latest outpost in the cultural heart of Atlanta, FIGO remains a local, independent company that has thrived despite a challenging economy.

One of the tangible ways the FIGO brand displays its individuality and creative culture is through the company’s “Italian satellite system,” which was created by Romagnoli’s sister, Anna, while brainstorming a way to locate where guests are sitting and deliver food throughout the restaurant. This system, now used at all FIGO locations, consists of pepper shakers painted by staff members to add a colorful element of self-expression.

FIGO extends this same autonomy to guests with a wide variety of fresh pasta and sauce options to make up a selection of more than 600 dishes, including salads, antipasti, panini, meatballs and FIGO favorites. Each location also offers monthly specials.  Additionally, the restaurants cater special events, meetings and parties, offering options ranging from sandwich trays to large pasta and entrée dishes to desserts.

FIGO’s West Midtown restaurant is located at 907 Marietta Street NW and serves lunch and dinner daily. The restaurant offers free Wi-Fi and ample private parking - a rarity for the area. For updates, follow FIGO on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. For more information, call 404-963-7950 or visit www.figopasta.com.

GUY WONG’S NEW LE FAT FALL MENU REFLECTS HIS PERSONAL INTERPRETATION OF VIETNAMESE FLAVORS
New offerings include addictive chili garlic prawns and a hearty thit kho bowl

ATLANTA (Oct. 20, 2015) - With a new chef-driven menu for fall just introduced at Le Fat, Guy Wong is deepening his culinary conversation with diners at his West Midtown Vietnamese brasserie. “Early on, I wanted to introduce people to the classic traditional dishes that I grew up eating; recipes that were cooked by my mother,” Wong explains. “Now that we’ve settled in and are becoming a part of this neighborhood, I want the menu to reflect my personal interpretation of Vietnamese food.”

The chili garlic prawns entrée is one of the new dishes Wong is eager for diners to try. It features local Georgia prawns stir-fried with roasted garlic, onions and chili oil. Another new chef favorite is the thit kho bowl, brimming with caramelized pork belly, pickled mustard greens, braised egg and grilled scallions. “It's a true comfort dish,” says Wong. “I slow braise pork belly for eight hours and then caramelize it for three hours. I pickle mustard greens for five days. It’s a warm, satisfying dish for this time of year.”

The fall menu’s drunken noodle entrée, Wong’s flavorful take on another of his childhood favorites, is made with high-quality angus flank steak and fresh noodles that Wong is sourcing from a mom and pop shop in Philadelphia’s Chinatown neighborhood and having delivered twice weekly to Le Fat.

Wong also has a special treat for early evening diners - the delicious banh mi bao appetizer filled with pork belly, carrot and daikon and accented with cilantro and jalapeño is available from 5 to 7 p.m. nightly. The dish is one Wong first began experimenting with at Miso Izakaya, his Old Fourth Ward Japanese tapas and sushi eatery. Wong explains: “I created it a few years ago and thought it would be amazing to one day serve it in a Vietnamese restaurant; here we are today.”

Even with all the adventurous new tastes on the menu, early Le Fat favorites, including the clay pot chicken (served in its signature sizzling pot), Wong’s famous rotisserie chicken (half lemongrass chicken served with ginger scallion oil and jasmine rice), bo luc lac “shaking beef” entrée and the chef’s acclaimed pho noodle dishes aren’t going anywhere.

For Wong, Le Fat’s new fall menu is a way to advance his dialogue with diners as the restaurant’s culinary offerings evolve. “This menu reflects me as a chef,” Wong says. “I am creating Vietnamese food from my own experience and history. It was personal before because it was my mother’s recipes, but now it's my take on it. Creatively, I always want to try new things. Plus, when my mother comes in for dinner now, there will be something new on the menu for her to try!”

Le Fat is located in West Midtown at 935 Marietta Street. Dinner is served nightly beginning at 5 p.m., and lunch is available on weekdays from 11:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. For more information, call 404-439-9850 or visit lefatatl.com.

WHITE OAK PASTURES TURNS ZERO WASTE PRACTICES INTO PET FOOD AND CHEW
Georgia’s Largest Organic Farm Helps Consumers Emulate Natural Feeding for Companion Animals by Creating Convenient Raw Whole Pastured Poultry Line

ATLANTA (Oct. 19, 2015) – Given the way White Oak Pastures, a family-run farm in Bluffton, Georgia, humanely raises 10 species of animals, it’s no surprise that the farm is now offering an all-natural line of food and chews for pets. In addition to being the most diverse farm in the South, White Oak Pastures is also known for its closed-loop farming practices and zero waste protocol that now also benefits a new type of customer: the four-legged kind.

“We continue to learn more about how to manage our by-products, and pet food processing is our latest endeavor to utilize offal and also echo how dogs and cats have always fed themselves in the wild,” says Will Harris, a fourth-generation cattleman and White Oak Pastures’ owner. “We are excited to provide pets with something like they evolved eating, like their ancestors ate.”

All animal blood, bones and eviscerate were previously composted to make organic fertilizers to be used as soil amendments for the farm’s Certified Organic pastures and garden. Now, White Oak Pastures is turning them into chews and raw pastured poultry grinds for pets.

The success of the pet chews, which range from best sellers like the rawhide chews, tracheas and cow pizzles to pet marrow bones and rabbit feet, led the farm to explore additional products. With the help of Whole Dog Market, a strong supporter of the farm, White Oak Pastures has recently introduced three varieties of raw meat blend pet supplements made from its pastured poultry: guinea fowl, duck and chicken.

“The purpose of our blends is to provide a convenient option for customers feeding raw. We are not selling a complete diet, but more so, a raw supplement like what animals would have hunted for before kibble,” explains Amber Reece, who creates White Oak Pastures’ pet chews and also manages the farm’s egg candling and packaging, tallow soap making, hide tanning and leather making.

The farm’s pet food is processed in the same manner that its ground beef or ground turkey is made, only with the addition of organs and bones to create a delicious raw ground product. Because the raw meat blends and chews are made on premises like all of White Oak Pastures’ other products, they meet all the same standards that the farm’s human food meets, including Certified Humane, Certified Grassfed and Animal Welfare Approved.

The main benefit of White Oak Pastures’ chews is the lack of preservatives used. While larger commercial pet product companies often use chemicals to remove the moisture and other preservatives, White Oak Pastures uses sunlight for their rawhides and a dehydrator for all other chews.

“All of our rawhides are cut by hand, soaked in a sodium hydroxide and water solution to remove the hair, stretched and dried in the sun," explains Reece. “The other chews—like the cow trachea, esophagus and ears—are all dehydrated for 24 to 36 hours. We don’t use any type of fillers; our pet chews go straight from the animal to the consumer.”

Although the farm's current pet-friendly options are mostly geared toward dogs, White Oak Pastures’ director of operations Brian Sapp says cat treats are something they are working on for the future. The farm is also looking to offer a raw goose meat blend this fall.

Animal lovers can purchase White Oak Pastures’ pet products at the farm’s store in Bluffton or its online store, at Doguroo and The Whole Dog Market locations and at the East Atlanta and Peachtree Road Farmer’s Markets (chews only). For additional information on these products or White Oak Pastures, visit whiteoakpastures.com.

ATLANTA (Oct. 7, 2015) –Seed Kitchen & Bar and Stem Wine Bar are turning a year older, and the sibling restaurants are celebrating with special offerings. Seed Kitchen & Bar marks its fourth birthday with a three-course menu available Monday, Nov. 2 through Saturday, Nov. 7, while Stem Wine Bar commemorates its second anniversary with an exclusive wine dinner on Monday, Nov. 2. And to make both events truly memorable, a portion of the proceeds from each will benefit Share Our Strength, a national nonprofit dedicated to eradicating childhood hunger.

“We’re grateful that diners have embraced Seed’s vision of modern American cuisine, unpretentious service and great value,” says owner/executive chef Doug Turbush. “Our special anniversary menu showcases the kind of fare we strive to deliver every night, at a reasonable price we know diners will love. Giving back to Share our Strength is just icing on the (birthday) cake.”

Seed’s celebratory three-course dinner menu, offered Nov. 2-7 in addition to the regular menu, begins with a choice of appetizer including baby beets, pears and creamy Bit O' Blue cheese from Caly Road creamery; black pepper lemongrass shrimp; and White Oak Pastures lamb meatballs. For an entrée, diners may choose Acadian redfish, Maple Leaf Farms duck leg confit or Barolo-braised beef short rib ravioli. Choice of dessert includes maple pots de crème made with chantilly cream and pistachio nut biscotti, and a chocolate peanut butter parfait with homemade roasted banana ice cream and peanut brittle. Cost is $35 per person, plus tax and gratuity. For more information, call 678-214-6888 or visit eatatseed.com.

Stem’s second anniversary wine dinner on Nov. 2 begins with gougère and canapè hors d’oeuvre, after which diners will enjoy Maine scallop crudo paired with a 2010 Iron Horse Wedding cuvée; sablefish with red miso and pommes salardaise paired with a 2012 Pinot Noir from Shea Wine Cellars; bacon-wrapped rabbit saddle with a 2001 La Rioja Alta "Gran Reserva 904" Tempranillo; Snake River Farms wagyu beef rib-eye cap with a 2012 Meyer Cabernet; and a molten chocolate tart with hazelnut tuile and vanilla bean ice cream in a port reduction, paired with a Sandeman 30-year-old tawny port.

“Each of the wines we are serving during this dinner comes from our exclusive stash here at Stem,” says Jason Raymond, the restaurant’s general manager and sommelier. “An anniversary dinner is a perfect way to thank guests for making Stem a success and to introduce newcomers to the delicious food and wine we’ve become known for.”

The cost for Stem’s wine dinner is $119 per person, plus tax and gratuity. For reservations and other information, call 678-214-6888 or visit stemwinebar.com.

MARLOW’S TAVERN REGALES ROSWELL WITH OPENING ON OCT. 20
John C. Metz and Partners Add Third North Fulton Location of Popular Tavern

ATLANTA (October 8, 2015) – Roswell is known for having something for everyone – nature, culture, history. Thanks to Marlow’s Tavern, Atlanta’s favorite neighborhood restaurant, Roswell now has a tavern that offers something to eat for everyone, too. Marlow's world-class hospitality, chef-driven fare and creative cocktails can be found at 625 W. Crossville Road in the Roswell Crossing shopping center beginning Oct. 20.

“Roswell combines the best of Georgia history with the best of contemporary culture," says John C. Metz, executive chef and co-founder of Marlow’s Tavern. "We’re looking forward to being part of that dynamic and adding another location in North Fulton. We opened our very first restaurant in Alpharetta 11 years ago and have been getting requests ever since to come to Roswell.”

Featuring crisp, cool salads, classic American burgers, fun food for the kids and more, the menu at Marlow’s Tavern focuses on fresh ingredients with seasonal, locally sourced items when available. The Roswell kitchen is in skilled hands with chef Bob Lescanec, who recently opened Marlow's Tavern in Woodstock.

The management team also has proven experience, led by general manager Darren Foley, a Marlow's veteran moving from the Avalon location.  “Whether you're on your way to one of the nearby high school football games and stopping in for a classic tavern burger, or want something light like our grilled salmon before heading to the theater, we’re here to satisfy your appetite for delicious food and friendly service,” Foley promises.

Beverage hospitality manager Damir Kamber, a Roswell resident, is eager to welcome guests with a tasty libation. “Roswell is rich in history; we like to think of our cocktails as history-in-the-making. All of our signature drinks start with fresh fruit juices, house-made simple syrups, fresh herbs and small batch liquors. We’ve also got wines from around the world and an enviable selection of draft, bottled and canned beers, including local craft brews and national favorites.”

The new Roswell location features an open-air patio with bar access, beckoning guests to enjoy a delicious meal and refreshing beverage al fresco.

Marlow’s Tavern Roswell is open for lunch and dinner daily from 11 a.m. The restaurant is located at 625 W. Crossville Road in the Roswell Crossing shopping center, near Trader Joe's.  For more information, visit marlowstavern.com or call 770-643-1330.

GUNSHOW BEGINS “SHOTGUN” BEER DINNER SERIES ON OCT. 25
Kevin Gillespie’s Glenwood Park Restaurant Partners With Creature Comforts and Three Taverns Breweries in Pursuit of Hoppiness

ATLANTA (Oct. 7, 2015) – Gunshow, chef Kevin Gillespie’s nationally acclaimed Glenwood Park restaurant, is launching a quarterly “Shotgun” Beer Dinner Series (college fraternity affiliation not required) featuring local breweries on Sunday, Oct. 25 from 6 to 9 p.m. For this premiere dinner, the restaurant is partnering with Creature Comforts Brewing Co. and Three Taverns Craft Brewery.

“It’s been really fun designing a menu around Creature Comforts’ and Three Taverns’ craft beers because both breweries offer a wide range of flavors just like we do here at Gunshow,” says executive chef Joey Ward. “Curiosity is what drives us all creatively and inspires us to give our guests the opportunity to discover new flavors; that is our shared goal for the evening.”

This innovative dining experience will feature six dishes from Gunshow’s team of chefs and a total of 10 beers from Creature Comforts and Three Taverns.

The food will be served in Gunshow’s signature style (dishes are presented on rolling carts and trays to diners), and each brewery will pour five beers throughout the meal. Beer dinner attendees will also receive take-home goodies from Creature Comforts and Three Taverns, including glassware and other merchandise.

Tickets are $100 per person, which includes a tasting of all dishes and beers offered that evening as well as tax and gratuity. Seating will be at communal tables and is limited to 60 guests. Tickets are available for purchase online through Xorbia.

For more information about Athens-based Creature Comforts, call 706-621-6595 or visit creaturecomfortsbeer.com. For more information about Three Taverns in Decatur, call 404-600-3355 or visit threetavernsbrewery.com.

Gunshow is located at 924 Garrett Street. The restaurant is open for dinner Tuesday through Saturday from 6 to 9 p.m. Guests may park in the Glenwood Park parking lot and on the street. For more information, visit gunshowatl.com or call 404-380-1886.
