GUNSHOW CELEBRATES FIVE YEARS ON MAY 8; THANKS GUESTS FOR
CONTINUED SUPPORT WITH A STROLL DOWN MEMORY LANE
Chef Kevin Gillespie’s Glenwood Park Restaurant Serves Up Greatest Hits Menu and Birthday Cake

ATLANTA (April 30, 2018) – Gunshow, the first restaurant from Atlanta chef, restaurateur, speaker and cookbook author Kevin Gillespie, is turning 5 years old on Tuesday, May 8. To celebrate the occasion, the restaurant is serving a menu of “greatest hits” during dinner service that includes some of the most popular dishes from the past five years. All guests dining at Gunshow that night also receive a complimentary slice of birthday cake.

“Gunshow has succeeded because Atlantans were willing to try something completely new and embraced our playfulness with open arms,” says Gillespie. “We want our supporters to know how grateful we are that they took a chance on us and gave us the opportunity to make this concept work.”

While guests have been very receptive to the constantly rotating selection of bold dishes from Gunshow’s executive chef Joey Ward and his fellow “kitchen dudes,” there are some standouts they can’t help but wish would reappear. Examples of these fan favorites that will be offered during service on May 8 include:

  • West Coast burger
  • Vietnamese chicken and waffles
  • Hot and numbing trout

One of Gillespie’s fondest memories from when Gunshow first opened involves one such sweet favorite. He, Ward and then-“kitchen dude” Andreas Müller wrote the entire menu, including desserts. “Andreas had to come up with a dessert, and he couldn’t really articulate what it was going to be, other than chocolate,” Gillespie recalls. “I really needed something for the menu, so we named it ‘Andreas Made Something with Chocolate,’ and everyone loved that! It became a signature dish. I think it set the tone for Gunshow – that we execute on a high level but don’t take ourselves too seriously.”

Over the past five years, Gunshow has also become known as a place that showcases talented chefs from all over the country during its “Hired Guns” series. These guest chef events began in 2013 and have lured some of the most talked about chefs to Atlanta for a showcase of their flavors and personalities alongside Gunshow’s featured dishes. Past Hired Guns have included Vivian Howard of A Chef’s Life, Bryan Voltaggio of Top Chef, Tandy Wilson of Nashville, Tennessee’s City House, New Orleans sensation Justin Devillier and Portland, Oregon duo Greg Denton and Gabrielle Quiñónez-Denton.

Guests have also come to look forward to the restaurant’s annual “Beardsmas” gift-giving extravaganza each holiday season – a blend of merchandise and experiences such as themed mixology classes with Gunshow’s award-winning mixologist Mercedes O’Brien, Hired Guns season tickets, a guided eating tour of Buford Highway with Gillespie and Ward and an overnight whole hog BBQ smoking lesson.

Gunshow is located at 924 Garrett Street. The restaurant is open for dinner Tuesday through Saturday from 6 to 9 p.m. Reservations are encouraged but not required. Guests may park in the Glenwood Park parking lot and on the street. For more information, visit gunshowatl.com or call 404-380-1886.
